It is comforting to know that whether WW III happens or not may be in the hands of a madman. Turkey's President Erdogan is talking tough and shooting down Russian jets. He is outside the bounds of normal actions and seems to have the backing of expansionist NATO. That's bad. What are the odds that madman will be emboldened when he receives support from the great powers?
Thankfully, America can't usually rouse its citizens to war monger until they are attacked directly. Pearl Harbor, Lusitania, Fort Sumter etc. Not-so-thankfully is the fact that American war involvement is usually just a false flag away. America has always been an expert in manufacturing the consent to go to war. As it stands, war weary America isn't all that revved up to fight for a Muslim country against a staunch adversary, but things can change.
The sitrep in Syria is as follows: Turkey is supporting ISIS and siphons $800,000,000 of ISIS oil per year. Russia bombs the oil carrying trucks headed for Turkey. Turkey shoots down a Russian bomber, hypocritically citing a violation of its airspace. This, after Turkey violated Syrian airspace every day for four years. That will come to an end the easy way or the Russian way.
Russia has deployed the hot-off-the-press, ultra high tech S-400 anti air weapon on the Syrian/Turkish border. It is a full leap and a bound better than anything the west has. The S-400 doesn't respect anything stealth, or anything fast and has proven it when it routinely shot down targets doing mach 5 during trials. It is about to be given it's baptism of fire, but only for a short time. The S-500 is just a year or two away. Russia is only getting stronger and the forces that oppose them must send their war machine with wrath because they know their time is short.
So, here we sit. Turkey has the choice of abandoning all the cash and oil it gets from ISIS, or to violate Syrian airspace and be shot down. I'm sure NATO is micro managing this case. The advice from NATO is one of two possibilities. Turkey should bow out of Syria and inflame the radical population in Turkey. If Turkey ignores the advice and gets shot down, it will be perceived as Turkish aggression and NATO would not feel the obligation to respond. Or, Turkey will be told to continue business as usual and NATO will respond in the highly probable case that a Turkish jet gets shot down by Russia. That means war.
Russia has righteous indignation on its side. The entire nation wants to shoot down a Turkish jet and Erdogan, the Turkish nut case, will surly test Russia's resolve. Will it be viewed as payback for a Russian jet and the murder of a pilot, or the spark that ignited WW III?
Dennis has been to 35 countries and carried a gun in most of them. He's worked as a soldier, policeman and intelligence operator before and during the Bosnian war. When looking into the abyss, he found that it has several faces and names that can and should be identified. A Henchman's Honor tells the story of his path to discovery and blows the lid off the organization of evil.
